For those of you who haven't quite figured out what this is, this is the website for the Kansas City Scriptwriters. We are an informal group of professional and amateur writers that meets every Wednesday night at Harpo's in Westport, 4109 Pennsylvania. Meetings generally go from 7-9 p.m. and the emphasis is on writing and criticism of our work. The general procedure is that you bring in a few copies of your latest screenplay, other writers take it home and read it over the week, and then come back and give you group and one-on-one criticism of your work - sometimes constructive, sometimes not. When there's no writing going on, we just talk movies. We can also help with the whole process of taking your completed script to Hollywood for the big sale, but usually not until it's been thoroughly deconstructed and put back together again. We can also educate on writing basics, script formatting, and the business side of Hollywood. Harpo's gets a little noisy sometimes, but at least it has food and drink and a nice outdoor patio for the summer. This group has been meeting in various places for about 10 years.
